This training is provided through a third party vendor, SafeColleges, and is not 100% reflective of ECR’s and UMBC’s views. ECR has screened the training and chosen it for its content, however, no third party training is perfect and there are some additional content warnings students should be aware of.

This training uses solely binary language to talk about gender; it only refers to men and women. UMBC is inclusive of people of all genders and does not discriminate on the basis of gender, gender identity, or gender expression. Finally, this training uses the term “transgendered.” This is an outdated term that is often used in ways that are harmful to transgender and gender non-conforming communities. The vendor has been made aware of ECR’s objection to this term. For more information on the proper use of terms to address transgender communities, see GLAAD’s media reference guide.
